Workshop:: Ataques de Nervios

Ataques de nervios are a Latino cultural idiom of distress that are often characterized as intense episodic expressions of emotional distress. In this workshop, participants will learn the history of ataques in cross cultural research, as well as be exposed to the current research on ataques in children and adults. Special emphasis will be placed on how to distinguish ataques from panic attacks, and to further examine how the different types of ataques that can be expressed. Participants will also learn how about the various sociodemographic, psychological, and somatic correlates and risk factors of ataques. 


This workshop can be tailored either for clinicians in practice or research oriented sites.
